Color Uncoordinated

I don't know what's going on these days, but my color sense has gone down the tubes. I've got a friend who's little girl is due in a couple of months and I finally got around to putting together a quilt top for her.

And I hated it. The light green didn't read green at all and the purple and white print was just weird. I pulled them off, consulted some of my color gurus on Facebook and spent a frustrating hour at the local quilt shop, which is nice but tends towards traditional rather than modern prints. They do have a great batik section, and I found a pink, and green and a couple of purple prints that I think work better.

I'm still thinking of tossing everything but the purple minarets and starting over, but I'm not sure what direction I'd go.

How about keeping all the purples, and going for greens, and that is it? Try lime green....

OK, here's my two cents worth ... I think the background is what's throwing this off. It needs to be a warmer color. The white is too glaring.

Hhmm, I think the white background will work better if there more white in the fabrics. Sorta like this bundle here: http://www.fabricworm.com/facububov12t1.html
The bright green is bothering me -- it's too dominant and doesn't say "little girl" to me. Too many of the fabrics in the second pic are reading solid with just a few prints. Also turn the photo into black & white to see the different values. I think you wll see a lot of dark & medium but no lights in the second photo.

Maybe try using only the reds/oranges and the yellow-greens on white background.

I like the first colours the best but I think the white background is not working, and yes the 2 pale green just don't seem to be looking good.....but again it could be the background.
