Here’s a link to photos of the lovely Hallo Bay Bear
watching folks that hosted a couple of us for a tour on Friday. It was an
amazing experience and as soon as I’ve processed my photos, I’ll be
posting them. In the meantime, enjoy these. (And notice the three little brown
bumps in the background of the third photo – you’ll be seeing much
closer shots of them soon.)

And seriously, if you ever go to Alaska, go to Homer and go out with theseguys. They were wonderful from start to finish.
Very cool tour. You get some pretty cool jobs!

We were once in Homer on a trip sparked by free Continental tickets from a bump. Homer was described as the Riviera of Alaska. Not! Or what does that say about the rest of the state, though that was some years ago. But it was the last week many of the stores were open (Labor Day week) and we got some great deals.

Does the Navy know they could use you for the poster child of "Join the Navy and see the world!!"?

As I understand the early reports of the sequence of events, the brave Captain of the USS DECATUR held her ground in the face of not one, but two charges by a ferocious grizzly.....more to the story to follow
