Day two of the conference was only slightly less exciting than day one, if only because nobody came around to "explain" things to little old me. The last few days have been conference-ship-home and crash, but that's okay because my house right now is populated with a dining room table (left behind by previous occupants along with a grill, patio furniture and hot tub) an air mattress, a camp chair and a 42 inch HD TV. Do I have my priorities straight or what? Actually, I'm just waiting for my stuff to arrive since I sent it into storage nine months ago. I miss my bed and my kitchen stuff in about equal measure. The rest of the stuff I can do without.
Turns out I can do without the TV, too. I haven't turned it on since I got home and have felt no desire. The internet that comes with the TV I do use, obviously. I'll probably get around to posting house pictures once things calm down a bit around here. I did buy the place, because apparently I stash real estate the way some people stash spinning wheels. Mom came down a week and a half early and set everything up. (Isn't that awesome? Especially when setting things up included major work on the sewage line, painting and other big things.) She also found her way around the neighborhood, so there was stuff for me to see when I got here. It was important stuff...
Like the local yarn/fabric/book shop
The independent ice cream shop next door
A family-run bike shop in the garage
And San Diego appears to be a big center of craft beer brewing and tasting, and there are no less than three great places for beer, burgers and mac and cheese (really) as well as half a dozen nice restaurants and just as many dirty table Mexican places and within stumbling walking distance of my place. And it's less than ten minutes away from work on a bad day. Admittedly, you can count the rivets on the planes landing at the airport since I'm directly under the approach path, but after a day or so the noise is hardly noticeable.
Stormy is settling in nicely.
Glad you're home, with the adventure of putting together the new place to look forward to!

home is nice, even if you cannot spend much time there! and furniture is a bit over-rated!
Yarn and fabric in one shop, what a find! Think maybe I will get to San Diego again when my sailor joins the USS Pearl Harbor!
